The Kenya Film Commission has put up on their website a call for submission for the Kalasha International Film & TV 2017 Festival. See image below of their poster
In a breakdown, the following is the schedule of the 2017 Kalasha International Film & TV Festival, bearing in mind that the repeat election between President Uhuru Kenyatta & Raila Odinga has been set by the IEBC to take place on the 17th of October
1. The festival will run from the 16th – 21st of October-Scheduled for a week in various venues throughout Kenya, eligible entries will be from the entire continent with screenings in various theatres & venues.
2. Opening dates for Film Submissions is 15th August 2017-Closing Date is 15th September 2017.
3. 18th & 20th October set for Kalasha Film & TV Tradeshow for showcasing Kenyan, East African & Pan African companies under the pavilion, while International Film & TV players will attend as participants
4. The Award ceremony takes place on the 21st of October
Obviously the festival must have been planned before the Kenyan political events transformed & saw the August 8th Presidential Elections President nullified by the Supreme Court of Kenya. But given the current political status will the festival still run or will it be overshadowed by the 17th October repeat presidential elections?
